TJYBB 2023-2024 Travel Baseball Information

AGE REQUIREMENTS

• The age requirement for the 8U-11U teams are using the birthdays May 1st - the following August 31st. Your child must turn the age they are being evaluated for within this timeframe. 
  

• You may only select one age group to register for each season (you cannot register for 9u, not get offered a spot and register for 8u)

8U: May 1, 2015 - August 31, 2016
9U: May 1, 2014 - August 31, 2015
10U: May 1, 2013 - August 31, 2014
11U: May 1, 2012 - August 31, 2013

• The 7U team will be formed in the Spring season while all other ages will be selected at the start of Fall
  

7U: May 1, 2016 - August 31, 2017 (players enrolled in Kindergarten or registered in Rookies are ineligible)

PLAYER EVALUATION

• Evaluations will be scored by 5 current or former TJ travel baseball coaches and/or assistant coaches.
  
• Coaches will not evaluate or be a part of a try out of one of their own children or a team they have or coached.
• The evaluations will be run in a consistent fashion by TJYBB board members and again they too will not be involved in an evaluation that they have a personal interest in.
• Previous seasons statistics and coaches feedback will play a major part in the evaluation and team selection process as we recognize the difficulty in a decision from a one-day evaluation.
• Players will be evaluated on the following criteria:

    • Hitting from a Board Member pitcher or approved substitute

  • 9u & 10u

COACHING REQUIREMENTS

• The board will review the submitted coaches interests and make a selection.
  
• Previous coaching experience, baseball knowledge and experience working with kids preferred.
• In house coaches (past or present of any age group) will be considered first.
• In an attempt to provide a positive, fun, learning and competitive experience for your child at every age the coach will be evaluated at the end of the season and that will be taken into consideration when moving forward into the next year's tryouts.
• The coach will pick their assistant coaches and who they think will be an asset in the dugout. Coach pitch ages may need one extra coach. There may be additional help needed to ensure practices run smoothly and efficiently.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Once a coach is selected, players/families will reach out to provide a position on the team. (This process usually occurs one to two weeks after Evaluation Day.)
• That coach will then contact the team they will be coaching. Players/families will then have 24-48 hours to accept/decline their position on the team.
• If declined, that player cannot opt to play for another TJYBB travel team for the 2022 season. (If you make the “A” team you cannot decline and request to play on the “B” team).
