TJYBB COVID-19 News Update (as of 5/29/20)

All,

We are very happy to announce that it appears that we WILL be able to offer a Spring season this year for the community!  We thank you for your patience thus far, and will continue to ask for that as we plan through these unprecedented times.

There will be a heavy focus on safety for all members of the community which will require teamwork from kids, coaches, parents and spectators to abide by regulations and guidelines that will be in place in conjunction with the local borough, recreation board and government health recommendations.  When finalized, these guidelines will be distributed to all families in the form of a responsibility waiver that we will asked to be reviewed and returned to ensure that we are all working together.

Our Spring season will now be on the following schedule

  • June 5th - County enters GREEN status allowing use of fields under safety guidelines
  • June 8th to June 26th - Team practices and scrimmage games (trial run under new guidelines)
  • June 28th to August 8th - Regular season games
    • We will also attempt to schedule a special event day for our 12 year old Homerun Derby due to the cancellation of Jefferson Hills Community Day sometime within the season

We understand that these dates are well beyond our normal season and some families will choose to not participate.  **If you fall into this category, we require you to reply back to the board no later than Tuesday, June 2nd if you choose to cancel your registration for the Spring season. We will keep a credited registration in our system that you can apply for your next season, unless alternate options are needed on a per family basis. You can email us at [email protected] or simply reply to this email.**  If we do not hear from you, we will keep your registration active and include your child in the system for this Spring.

Due to the likely change in registration status for some families, this will require us to restart the season in our system, including team rosters.  We will do our best to keep the current teams and rosters intact, however is most cases there will be changes to ensure proper team and roster balance at each division.

Lastly, as we've said in the past, all of the members of the TJYBB Board, division commissioners and team coaches are volunteers and allocate their personal schedules to ensure the kids in our community have a fun, safe experience, so we ask for your patience and understanding during this process.  We are always very hard pressed to find willing helpers so we ask that if you have not yet stepped up to help, that you use this time as a way to reconsider.  We will be looking for additional help throughout the season to ensure the kids, especially the younger ages, are following the safety guidelines for return to play.

Thanks again,

TJYBB Board

TJYBB COVID-19 News Update
(as of 5/7/20)

First we would like to send our best wishes to all of our baseball families during these difficult times.  We hope that everyone is safe, healthy, and looking forward to the end of this crisis.  We think it is worth noting that we have been hesitant to send any updates during this time as we don’t really know what the future holds and our operating environment and plans have changed literally every day over the past two months.

What we do know is that our state and county government have made it clear that we are not permitted to conduct baseball activities until we are in the green phase.  In conjunction with this, we expect that our local boroughs will hold our field permits until that same time.  With that in mind, if we are able to move into the green phase by Friday June 12th (and hopefully earlier) we will proceed with a season that will run through the first week in August.  If we are not in the green phase by June 12th, we will be cancelling the season and focusing on offering an enhanced fall season.

If we do have to cancel, yet we achieve the green phase after June 12th but before the end of summer, we will seek to offer skill practices and organized pick-up style games for all ages throughout the remaining summer days.

Our hope is to make the most out of whatever opportunity we get for baseball this summer, and we hope our entire baseball community can support us in that effort.

Thank you,

TJYBB Board

TJYBB Refund Options

TJYBB will be processing refunds for the entire organization with the assistance of our service provider when we have reached our June 12th determination deadline.  The planning and coordination for each season begins several months in advance, including the purchase of equipment, resources, and maintenance tasks.  Our goal with any refund is to make families 100% whole, and will strive to do so as outlined below.

WITHOUT a Spring 2020 Season
In the event the Spring 2020 season is cancelled in full, all families registrations will be cancelled with the following refund format:

  • Ages 5u-11u - 85% refund with a 15% discount for the next Spring Season
  • Age 12u - 100% refund as they have reached the end of their youth division play

WITH a Spring 2020 Season

In the event the Spring 2020 season is able to be played, families will have the following options that have opted out of playing:

  • Account Credit
    • Credit amount towards their next season registration
    • Must be redeemed by Fall 2020 or Spring 2021
  • Account Refund
    • Ages 5u-11u - 85% refund with a 15% discount for the next Spring Season
    • Age 12u - 100% refund as they have reached the end of their youth division play

We appreciate that many families are in a time of need right now, therefore if your refund amount is needed for an emergency prior to the time we can process it with the organization, we can coordinate a safe way to get the two appropriate signatures on a paper check and mail it to you.
