PITTSBURGH UMPIRE ASSOCIATION RULES & REGULATIONS
- Umpires shall receive all assignments from the Assigning Secretary of the PUA. If an assignment absolutely must be returned, it shall be returned to the Assigning Secretary. The Association may suspend umpires who work contests not assigned by the Assigning Secretary.
- All cancellations must be reported to the Assigning Secretary no later than one & one-half (11/2) hours before the game is scheduled to begin.
- If an umpire appears at the field and the ball game is called due to weather or unplayable field conditions only, he shall receive $15 travel fee, unless PUA has been properly notified.
- If a game is started and suspended or called when less than three (3) innings have been completed (or one (1) hour), the umpire(s) shall receive one-half fee.
- If a game is started and suspended or called when three (3) innings or more have been completed (or one (1) hour), the umpire(s) shall receive full fee.
- If a game is forfeited for any reason, the umpire(s) shall receive full fee. Umpires shall not work an exhibition game if requested. This applies even if the game is forfeited before the first pitch.
- For completion of a suspended game the umpire(s) shall receive full fee. This applies even to a completion of a suspended game before the start of a regular scheduled contest (no matter the length).
- When one umpire works a game for which two umpires are scheduled, that umpire shall receive one and one-half times the fee for the game(s).
- If one or both umpire(s) do not appear at a regularly scheduled game, the Assigning Secretary of PUA must be notified within forty-eight (48) hours after the date of the game.
- The director of the league or managers of said teams must report all games that have been postponed and rescheduled for assignment to the Assigning Secretary.
- If an umpire does not receive payment due to him for any reason, he must notify the Assigning Secretary within forty-eight (48) hours after the date of the game.
- All game fees are to be paid prior to the start of all games. Managers have too much responsibility to be worried about payment at the conclusion of game.
- All umpires shall be in full uniform at all times. This means black shoes, gray trousers, PUA hat, belt, and blue pullover shirt w/ patch on pocket. Etc.

TJYBB Umpire Rules
- One umpire per game will be provided.
- Umpires must be called 1 hour and 15 minutes before game time in case of a cancellation. If the umpire shows up and there is no game, a $15.00 travel fee will be charged
- Once the 1st pitch is thrown, the umpire will be paid full price no matter if the game is played to completion or not.
- Umpires will be paid in cash at the snack shack at 885 and at Mowry Park and will be required to sign the log.
- There is a 15 minute grace period while waiting for enough players to start a game. After 15 minutes, a forfeit will be called and the umpire will be paid in full. The 2:00 hour time limit for games includes any grace period at the start of the game.
- The umpire, at his discretion, will be allowed to call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher if the umpire feels the catcher is not capable of protecting him by catching thrown pitches.
- The umpire will not be responsible for enforcing rules on bats, batting orders, uniforms, etc. unless it is brought to his attention by a manager who has a written set of rules pertaining to the individual incident.
- APPEAL PLAY The pitcher will step off of the rubber and state to the umpire what his appeal is. The pitcher will then throw the ball to the base to complete the appeal. The appeal must be made before the next pitch is thrown.
